What are they saying?
Last year, tourism became Costa Rica’s main source of foreign exchange, accounting for 1.3 billion dollars in revenues, constitutes eight percent of Costa Rica’s gross domestic product (GDP). According to official statistics of Costa Rica, the tourism industry provides direct and indirect employment of 140,000 to 150,000 people in a country of only 3.8 million.

Costa Rica is visited by about 1.1 million tourists a year, 25 percent of the combined total number of visitors to the seven countries of Central America.
